Different camcorders used different cassette sizes and recording systems. Check the format printed on your cassette before shipping.

Small camcorder cassettes

VHS-CThe smaller VHS-family cassette commonly used by older compact camcorders. Not the same physical size as a full VHS tape.
Video8An analog 8mm videocassette format used in many personal camcorders.
Hi8A higher-quality analog 8mm recording format found in many late-1980s through 2000s camcorders.
Digital8A digital recording system that uses 8mm-style cassettes. The label on the tape or camera can help identify it.
miniDVSmall digital video cassettes commonly used for personal recording in the 1990s and 2000s.

Full-size VHS is welcome too

Some recordings began on camcorder tapes and were later copied onto full-size VHS. We also accept standard NTSC VHS tapes for eligible private and adult video transfers.

  • Not sure whether it's VHS-C or miniDV? Check the cassette label or ask us before shipping.
  • We do not accept PAL, SECAM, Betamax, or 3/4-inch U-Matic.
  • We do not transfer movie film, slides, negatives, or albums through PVT.

Can you convert a private Hi8 tape to digital?

Yes, accepted Hi8 recordings can be transferred to digital files. We also accept Video8, Digital8, VHS-C, miniDV, and standard NTSC VHS tapes.

What if the tape contains homemade adult footage?

Our service is designed for eligible, lawful private and adult recordings. You can tell us the format and quantity without describing the intimate content in detail.

Can you transfer miniDV tapes without my old camcorder?

Yes. You send the tape itself; you do not need to supply the original camcorder. Please verify that the cassette is an accepted format before shipping.

Will I receive files or just DVDs?

Qualifying videotape orders include digital files through a 30-day cloud link and USB flash drive, as well as one DVD copy per tape.

How much does one private camcorder tape cost?

Adult or discreet tapes are $35 each, subject to a $99 minimum order. A one-tape adult order therefore costs $99, including standard return shipping and the listed deliverables.

Do I have to pay before I send my tapes?

No. Submit the order form, then send your tapes with tracking. After your package is received and reviewed, we'll invoice you before transfer processing begins.

Can I use a different name on the return package?

The order form has a field for a different return name. It must still be a name and address where the package can be delivered successfully.

What if I don't know my camcorder format?

Look for the format printed on the cassette. If you're still uncertain, ask us before mailing it. Avoid sending unsupported formats without checking.
